Sean Skinner

Graduate Assistant

As the MindFit Academic Enhancement GA, Sean supports the MindFit mission by mentoring students and tutors, maintaining the program's social media and recruiting new tutors.

Sean recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering. He completed this program through Benjamin M Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University. While completing his undergraduate degree, Sean stood as a member of Engineers without Borders, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and captain of the SAE BAJA team. He is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering while conducting powertrain research for the BAJA team. After graduation, Sean plans to work for Briggs and Stratton and design the first BAJA vehicle to hit 70 mph.

After starting his new position, Sean has shown his rediscovered appreciation for the MindFit Academic Enhancement Program, from the perspective of a GA. While working at MindFit, he has enjoyed being in an environment which promotes personal growth, peer collaboration, and academic success. As the graduate assistant, Sean values being able to promote learning and success on a long-term scale. He shared, “The tutors are the most important part of MindFit. Their relationship with their students is the primary means of facilitating academic success. As the graduate assistant, I look forward to watching these students transform from start to finish.”
